Advice from inspiring letterists and designers Jessica Hische and Erik Marinovich:

You can learn anything if you teach yourself how to look.

Make sure you are creating every single day. It allows you to experiment and push yourself.

Your objectives?

I am transitioning from a full time design job to running my own photo and design business. My goal is to maintain a full time freelance schedule while building my ideal client list. I would like to build the studio so that it is an ideal place to meet with clients, collaborate with other artists and designers on projects, host art shows, and work on photo shoots.

Desired results and vision?

I would like my business to be perceived as modern, creative, and edgy. I would like to have a space that encourages collaboration and creativity.

Target market?

Photography and Design:

- Modeling agencies in Los Angeles and New York.
- Fashion brands that are modern/edgy/hip.

Studio:

- Photographers, Videographers and Illustrators interested in collaboration.
- Local artists interested in renting the space.

Demographic focus:

Ages 18-35
Income: 75k+

Color preferences?

White, black, and grey with pops of bright color. I would like to keep things neutral so the focus is on the piece or art or photograph.

Equity:

In ten years, I hope to be running a larger studio with 10-20 employees. I would like to spend more time traveling, meeting clients, shooting, and finding/collecting design inspiration from around the world. I would like my studio to expand to a larger space that can host a separate art gallery, shooting space, and office in San Diego.

Keywords that best describe business:

Modern, clean, nostalgic, natural, real, moody, vivid.

Moodboards

Since I do both photography and design, I am submitting mood boards for each.

The two photography mood boards represent the 2 different styles I like to photograph in. Can they be combined into one?
